This festival is a celebration of local agriculture, local food, independent businesses and the beauty of the Sierra Nevada.
In 2006, local food advocate Ann Louhela of the WNC Specialty Crop Institute visited the world-famous Sequim Lavender Festival in Washington and returned home with the dream of a lavender festival for Nevadans. A decade later, she met event manager extraordinaire Angela Handler of 39 North Downtown, and the Sierra Nevada Lavender & Honey Festival was born.
This “scent-sational” new event celebrates all things lavender and honey along with arts and crafts, lavender and honey themed food, product demonstrations, music, entertainment and more. Even a lavender and honey beer from local favorite Great Basin Brewing Company.
